Squash United to build showroom at Birmingham Railway Station and fund community projects
The World Squash Federation (WSF) has announced the construction of a glass show court at New Street Railway Station (Birmingham).
From April 4 to 9, 2022, a squash court will be installed in the main hall of the station, which is visited daily by about 170,000 people. This initiative will take place in order to draw even more attention to the Commonwealth Games, which will be held this year in England.

Funds raised during the event, which will include youth and community engagement programs, exhibitions and the opportunity to meet professional players, will go to community initiatives in Birmingham.
Squash United brought together the Squash Federation of England, the World Squash Federation, Rackets Cubed, Off the Wall Squash, the PSA Foundation and passionate squash fans in the West Midlands to showcase the benefits of the game to a wide audience.
By the summer of 2023, road shows, mini-courts and initiatives are expected to introduce 50,000 children to the game, and clubs created for Birmingham 2022 will make squash available.

At the end of the week's event on New Street will be an exciting spectacle, which will meet professional squash players from around the world. The semifinals and finals of the University of Birmingham Open, a professional PSA Challenger Tour, will take place on April 8 and 9 on the glass court.
WSF President Wooldridge, who was born in Stourbridge and is a former director of sports at the University of Birmingham, added: "Birmingham's heyday over the past 25 years provides an opportunity to be creative in promoting squash using a glass show court. We thank Network Rail and the New Street Station team for supporting our project on the eve of the Games. "
Adriana Olaya, head of the PSA Foundation, concluded: "The way we came together for one thing - to make squash the" star "of the Commonwealth Games - was incredible. The Birmingham New Street project will be the pearl of this unique collaboration.”
Additional information about the squash court, including the game schedule, will be announced later.
