Women's World Championship 2022: battle of debutants and games for places

The national team of Ukraine, despite occupying the fourth place in the group, confidently steps forward to the meeting with the opponents. With the way events unfolded, and taking into account the class of opponents in Group C, we failed to make it to the playoffs.

The most experienced English players, led by Jasmine Hatton, became a very strong match for Ukrainian squash players. But despite this, we fought. In the confrontation of the first rackets, Anastasia Kostyukova showed herself well, playing with the Englishwoman with a score of 11-7, 11-7, 11-2.

The number one player of Ukraine shared her impressions after England's game with France: "I was very surprised that my opponent beat Camille Serme with a score of 3:0. By the way, I had more points in the first games, although of course all matches are different and that's not you can compare (laughs)".

In the championship games, the national team of Ukraine continues to fight for 13th - 17th places. The games are held in a group format, so you will have to play Germany, Taipei (December 14) and Finland (December 16) in turn.

The games against the German national team took place yesterday. Ukraine played 3:0, but Kostyukova still managed to win one game: "I managed to win the game 11:9, and also played the next one with a score of 8:11, losing to world number 64 and Germany's number one Saski Beinhard. This match gave me even more confidence in myself."

In the match for the 15th-17th place against the Taipei team, the national team had a real chance to win. Recharged by yesterday's micro-victory over Saskia Beinhard, Anastasia Kostyukova believed in her strength, recharged and delivered the first full-fledged victory:

"After games with previous opponents who made almost no mistakes in their strategy, it was easier for me in this match. I immediately felt the weak points and began to press exactly there, which brought me a completely confident victory."

The leader of the national team, Anastasia Kostyukova, is making history for the second time this year. We will remind you about the first cherished match won at the World Games, and now the long-awaited victory at the World Championship against Taipei.

"I am very grateful to the Squash Federation of Ukraine for the opportunity to represent the country at a tournament of this level, as well as to my sponsor Unsquashable for their support."

"The team was very happy that we got the first victory and that we had a more tangible chance to win the meeting."

Our national team decided to redraw the lineup and give playing experience to the fourth racket - Daria Vlasenko, Anastasia Krykun did not participate in this meeting. Unfortunately, in the confrontation, 39-year-old Wei-Ting Huang could not get hold of even one game.

After the end of the game, Dasha shared her feelings: "I was too worried, I thought it would be a little easier. But I'm not going to give up, I'll train even more zealously."

No matter what responsibility was placed on Milena Velichko, after the intermediate result 1-1. With a 6-11 advantage in the first set, Milena looked poised to give her team the much-needed victory in the deciding match. But it was not possible to impose our game, at the 35th minute our colleagues won with a score of 2:3.

Tomorrow, December 16 at 12:00, we have the final match for the 15th-17th place against Finland, who beat Taipei 3-0 today.
