World Junior Team Championship-2022

The 2022 World Junior Team Championship starts today. 23 countries will compete for the title in Nancy, France, following the conclusion of yesterday's individual championships for boys and girls.

The tournament begins with a group stage, with games taking place at TSB Jarville and Le Rêve, Maxéville, before moving into the play-offs on Friday 19 August. The matches will start at 11:00 (Kyiv time) and will be broadcast live for free on the WSF YouTube channel.

Egypt, winners of four of the last five tournaments, enter this year's championship as the top seed and the main favourite. Team Egypt will be looking to do their best to retain the title they reclaimed in 2018 in Chennai, India.

England, who lost to the finalists last time and were one of only four nations to compete at every World Junior Boys Team Championship, are seeded second. England have in their arsenal a strong team that took second place in singles - Finnlay Withington, Sam Osborne-Wilde, John Bryant and Franklin Smith.

Pakistan, seeded at number three, will be hoping to regain the title they won in 2016. Led by 16-year-old Hamza Khan, who is considered one of the brightest players in the junior squad, Noor Zaman, Muhammad Ashab Irfan and Anas Ali Shah will play. Pakistan goes side by side with Egypt, with six tournament wins to their credit.

The top 6 teams include: Malaysia, France and India.

The debutants of the championship Ukraine, whose participation in the competition contributed to the financial support of the French Squash Federation (FFS) and the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (FNSC), will mark their entry into the tournament with a difficult match against the 7/9 seeded USA. The captain of the national team Dmytro Shcherbakov was joined by the best juniors of Ukraine - Radionov Tymofiy, Anisimov Volodymyr and Tokar Maksym.
