Individual CHU-2017: Men gave the maximum!
On the first day of the individual championship of Ukraine, squash fans were able to see the confrontation at once on 3 steps. According to the tournament format, there was no division into different skill levels. And those who are still in the category "Amateurs" were able to show an excellent game, playing on equal terms with those who have more experience in squash.
On Friday, the games were held in three stages at once in the men's category. The obvious favorites (players of the "Pro" category) joined the games only in the 1/16 finals, but even here they were in for their own surprises.
However, let's start from the very beginning, where we managed to observe crazy confrontations. The five-game duel between Alexander Gorbunenko and the unseeded Alexei Kostyukov, the confrontation between the experienced Andrey Moskalyuk and the junior Daniil Rasputny, the most difficult fight of Artemy Perun against the young Efim Belikov.
And then the games of the 1/16 finals began, when experienced squash players joined the fight. Here, too, it was not without an interesting struggle - some rivals were already in good shape, others worked on experience. Yes, the "amateurs" were knocked out at this stage, but it was difficult for each of the winners. Then came the games of the 1/8 finals - no less interesting. Aleksey Kovalsky left the race, losing to Dmitry Shcherbakov, Andrian Gulevsky from Dnipro and other players who managed to withstand the Friday squash marathon. Of course, it was expected that those who have more playing experience would reach the quarterfinals, but, in any case, the first day of the Ukrainian Championship has already managed to give us maximum emotions.
But tomorrow our women will also join the fight! And it's even hard to imagine what awaits all squash lovers on Saturday at the courts of the 5 Element club, if already the first day managed to give us such a rich evening - and there are two more ahead of them ...
